Finding adaptive equipment can be expensive and overwhelming. The NWPA Adaptive Equipment Exchange was created to connect families with needed equipment, promote reuse of valuable resources, and strengthen support within our disability community.

Items We’re Collecting

We're currently accepting donations of gently used adaptive equipment and disability-related items. While donations will also be accepted on the day of the event, we strongly encourage donations before October 11 so our volunteers can organize and display items before families arrive.

Examples of items we're collecting include:

  • Wheelchairs, walkers, gait trainers, and standers

  • Adaptive strollers and mobility equipment

  • Bathing, toileting, and feeding equipment

  • Positioning chairs and seating systems (including Rifton equipment)

  • Communication devices and AAC equipment

  • Adaptive bicycles and recreational equipment

  • Orthotics, braces, and medical supports

  • Sensory toys and sensory equipment

  • Adaptive clothing and Billy Footwear

  • Safety equipment, beds, ramps, lifts, and more

How It Works

The NWPA Adaptive Equipment Exchange is designed to help as many families as possible find the equipment they need in a safe, organized, and fair environment.

At the Exchange:

  • Admission is FREE and no registration is required.

  • The Exchange is first come, first served. Items cannot be reserved before the event.

  • 5 families will be admitted at a time. Families waiting to enter will form a single-file line outside.

  • Every family must sign in and complete a waiver before entering.

  • Each family may initially choose 1 large item and 3 small items.

  • During the final hour, we plan to lift item limits. Limits may be lifted earlier depending on how much equipment remains.

  • Selected items may be held for up to 30 minutes only. If you plan to take a large item, please bring appropriate transportation for pickup.

  • Bringing a donation is welcome, but does not move your family ahead in line.

  • All equipment is donated and provided as-is. Families are responsible for determining whether an item is appropriate for their needs.

Equipment Is for Families — Not Resellers

Everything at the Exchange is FREE and intended for families in our community who can use these items. Items received at the Exchange are not to be resold.

Please take only items your family can use so that as many families as possible have an opportunity to benefit. When your family is finished with an item, we hope you’ll pay it forward by passing it along to another family who can use it.

Items shown in our photos, posts, and reels are examples of equipment we have collected. Because the Exchange is first come, first served, we cannot guarantee that a particular item will still be available when your family enters.

Help Support the Equipment Exchange

The Adaptive Equipment Exchange is completely free for families, but it is not free to operate. The Disability Resource Fair of NWPA purchases adaptive equipment for the Exchange and covers expenses including donation pickups, transportation, U-Haul rental, event supplies, and other costs.

Monetary donations help us continue providing adaptive equipment to local families at no cost.
